Information technology jobs are usually associated with fields like software development, networking, and database administration. Increasingly though, QA management, or quality assurance management, has grown into being an integral sector of the IT field. Now, QA Management degrees and certifications are widely available and have become a good entryway into a lucrative career.

Plans never go as expected. This is especially true when implementing information technology at the enterprise level. Even if running from the same program, no two technology jobs are alike and QA management testers need to come in and assess a situation in order to fix it.

What Is A Quality Assurance Job?

QA management jobs and degrees come in many forms, from the developer who tests code, to the testing gurus who work with automated program tools. Many vendors and groups have recognized this integral part of the development and maintenance process and have developed certifications and degree programs to standardize and demonstrate knowledge of the QA management process and QA testing.

The following are the list of certifications that a good QA management degree program would work your way towards:

Vendors who offer QA Certifications:

  • Mercury
  • Segue
  • Rational
  • Empirix

Vendor-Neutral QA Certifications:

  • Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA)
  • Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE)
  • Software Quality Engineer Certification (CSQE)
  • Quality Improvement Associate Certification (CQIA)

The list may not be long, but by obtaining any of the above certifications, a QA Management degree holder would make themselves eligible for QA management jobs, an expanding niche in IT. Different degree programs will prepare you for at least one, and perhaps all, of these certifications.

Benefits of Quality Assurance Jobs

The work of a QA management degree holder is actually quite exciting compared to typical IT jobs. QA management jobs are usually part-time contracts that bring you from one company to another. QA management degree graduates end up with jobs in all types of industries as the programs they test are now used everywhere in the business world.
