According to Monster.com, a recent report found that 59 percent of CIO's surveyed by Morgan Stanley named Oracle as their primary enterprise database software. This is good news for database managers who have OCP DBA training and certification on their resumes.

OCP DBA stands for Oracle Certified Professional Database Administrator (the acronym for Oracle certification can vary). OCP DBA certification demonstrates that the worker has successfully fulfilled certification and training requirements from Oracle, the world's number two software company and leading database administration company.

OCP DBA Certification Training

Oracle is such a determined leader in database administration that obtaining OCP DBA certification is considered one of the surest ways to demonstrate expertise with databases of all kinds. According to an Oracle survey, 97 percent of workers with OCP DBA certification say they have benefited from training and certification, while 89 percent say they gained confidence in their Oracle expertise as a result of certification.

What's more, 96 percent would recommend the training program to others. Employers reap the benefits as well. According to Oracle, companies advocating certification report 49 percent less downtime from those without OCP DBA certification and training.

What Is OCP DBA Certification?

Workers with OCP DBA training handle the day-to-day performance and fine-tuning of databases, along with problem solving when crises emerge. The OCP DBA certification exams cover SQL, database administration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and network administration.

OCP DBA Training Increases Income

Getting OCP DBA certification is well worth it. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, database administrators are expected to be among the fastest growing occupations through 2012. Employment for database administrators is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations as organizations continue to adopt and integrate increasingly sophisticated technologies.

Salary levels for those with OCP DBA certification are good, too. Again according to the USBLS, median annual income for database administrators was $55,480 in 2002. The middle 50 percent earned between $40,550 and $75,100, a nice long-term return on an investment in OCP DBA training and certification.
